The Elks National Foundation is proud to announce the 2019 Most Valuable Student Scholarship contest, which is open to any high school senior who is a US Citizen. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.
Eligibility includes: current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply; applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks; high school graduates are not eligible to apply. The Tiffin-Seneca United Way and Impact Hope are to host Hurricane Florence Relief Bucket Brigade from October 8-18th. Donations can be dropped off at the Tiffin-Seneca United Way or SCAT. Seneca County Parks is to host Nature Walk Bird Talk on Sunday, October 14th at 8 a.m. at the Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve, Bloomville. This walk last about 1 and a half hours and qualifies for the Walking Stick Program. Bring binoculars and cameras as you walk the trails looking and listening to the sights and sounds of nature. Seneca County Parks is to host Family Fun Event – Awesome Autumn on Sunday, October 14th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve, Bloomville. This event is fun for the whole family. Come and explore the nature preserve with autumn related activities inside and out. Seneca County Parks is to host Preschool Pals-Pumpkins on Monday, October 15th at 5 p.m. at Zimmerman Nature Preserve. This event is for ages 3 to 5 years with adult companion. Come and learn all about pumpkins as you explore the pathway and, then be prepared to decorate your own little pumpkin. Please dress for the outdoors. This program is free and open to the public. The St. Francis Spirituality Center will be hosting “Learning to Meditate: A Five Week Course for Beginners” on Mondays, beginning on Oct. 1st at 200 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin. Sr. Edna Michel, OSF, will be the meditation guide to finding the path to physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being. All faith traditions are welcome. The Seneca County Park District, The Franciscan Earth Literacy Center, and The Ohio State University will host an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Course on Tuesdays and Saturdays beginning on September 11th and continuing through November 3rd.
